In and Around Hope CoveInside the cottage you will find maps / books on the area and additional publications on the area can be purchased from the Post Office. From your PC start with Kingsbride Info. the pictures of Hope Cove certainly do the village justice. This site is a good source of information particularly for outdoor activities. Kingsbridge is well worth a visit and here you will find the only local supermarket - Morrissons. Kingsbridge is an ancient market town with many unique shops. Salcombe can be explored after a strennuous 2 hour walk from the cottage. It's found along the South West Coastal Path or by taking your car and using the Park & Ride which operates during the busy summer season. It's a charming nautical town, Salcombe, just make sure you sample the renowned Salcombe Dairy ice cream.
The larger town of Plymouth is approximately an hour by car and if you head to the historic Barbican area you can look at the National Aquarium follwed by a trip round the Plymouth Gin Factory. If visiting in August, make sure you check out the 'National Fireworks Championships'. Further afield the Eden Project in Cornwall is worthy of a day visit as well as Dartmoor National Park. Curry- If you fancy a night out, visit Kingsbridge, here you'll find a superb Balti House who will also do home delivery to Hope Cove. The Mahanharat Balti House can be contacted on 01548 856003, their menu and number can also be found in the cottage. Sea Food- At Aveton Gifford there is 'The Oyster Shack' which serves seafood to die for. Booking is essential. Cheese- Near Totnes is Sharpham Vineyard which is nestled on the banks of the River Dart. Not only can you sample or buy their wine and cheese but you also enjoy walking around the estate with glorious views over the Dart Estuary. Whilst in this area, visit ticklemore cheese- try their Beenleigh Blue! The South HamsNot only does the South Hams have some of the best sandy beaches in the county but also some of the safest. Our beach outside the cottage is a paradise for the young - rock pools - swimming or just digging in the sand. We can highly recommend the River Dart Country Park for a fun family day out. On a wet day the National Aquarium at Plymouth is fascinating and a good eductional venue. If you like towns, Totnes and Dartmouth are very picturesque and are about a 40 minute drive from Hope Cove. From Dartmouth try a river trip up the
Local- No holiday in the Westcountry would be complete without sampling our superb local food: be it eating out or purchasing locally and eating in. Do try the village pub, The Hope and Anchor, which also acts as the village Wi-FI hotspot. Equally, try a Devon cream tea up the road at Barton Farm which you may have passed as you entered the village. Good local meals can be found at the SunBay Hotel and the Port Light Inn at Bolberry as well.
